National Savings Day Giveaway

National Savings Day Giveaway

Today is National Savings Day, and what better time to build your nest eggs than now? We want to help your financial plans hatch, so we’re giving away a $150 Amazon gift card to one lucky TopCashback member. This contest ends on October 19, 2018 at 11:59 pm PST, and we’re selecting a winner on October 22, 2018.

And in addition to this awesome prize, we’d like to offer some thrifty tactics:

When in Doubt, Wait It out

With seamless online shopping apps and autofill checkout options, it’s easier than ever to splurge. Clear out your credit card info from your favorite merchants’ sites to avoid impulse purchases, and give yourself at least 2 days to consider your order. This will help separate your wants from your needs.

When you finally make your decision, use cash back to save some moolah.

Breakup with Your Bank

Bank

It’s time to tell your teller “It’s not you. It’s me.” Seriously, you could do better. You shouldn’t have to pay fees and deal with minimum balance requirements. There are numerous banks without those burdens. Plus, they have sign-up bonuses and attractive interest rates. Eh, there’s plenty of fish in the sea. Am I right?

Find the Sweet Spot for Airfare

Traveling takes out a huge chunk of change, so you must dig a little before you press “Book Now.” According to experts at Expedia, the best time to buy flights for Thanksgiving is October 1 - October 22. For Christmas, the best dates are October 27 - December 4.

Our very own personal finance whiz, Chelsea Hudson, was recently quoted in an NBC News article stating, “Now is a great time to open a travel rewards credit card with a hefty sign-up bonus. Once you meet the sign-up bonus requirements, tap into your hard-earned miles to snag a free flight right off the bat. Popular flights during peak travel times can cost more miles, so make sure you compare times and dates to get the most value of your miles.”

Stack these savings with our cash back rates to conserve even more.

So these are just a couple ways to kick-start your frugal journey. Be sure to check our Top Offers page for the latest deals.

Enter the giveaway using the widget below. Please remember that you must leave a blog comment to qualify.

TopCashback giveaways are open to members only, so if you're not already a member, take a moment and sign up.

I'm by nature a frugal person and absolutely love deals and sales and etc. One of my simple money-saving but also environmentally-friendly tips is to clean and reuse regularly a glass bottle that was originally for a tea drink and keep in my car to refill with water that comes from a gallon of water that I brought from the store. I save on not buying constant plastic water bottles and there's less trash that would take a long time to decompose.

Always check a stores app prior to leaving, check their weekly mailers and when you can get those rebates. While they are not instant they add up. These can be cash back rebates like TopCashBack or mail in rebates from companies themselves. And if all this fails be sure to use a reward credit card. There is always a way to save even just a couple cents just have to be vigilant. Thanks for the opportunity, best of luck to all!

I have at least 3 rebate apps on my phone. Most often, they overlap one another and I can submit the same receipt for the same rebate. There are also copmanies, such as Kellogg's, that have their own sites where you can submit receipts and receive points toward rewards when you buy their products. Add all of that with offers from TopCash and you come up with some very nice bonuses.

Create a free email address for coupons and emails from retailers. Sign up for emails from all stores you shop with. Some have loyalty points and rewards. So add items to your cart but don't check out(make sure your signed in when you do, very important), search your email for the retailer for if any coupons or rewards, then visit TopCashback, click the link to the store, sign in, use said coupons and rewards and complete your purchase saving money and getting money back.

It is wise to try to save 10-15% Of each paycheck and put aside for emergencies. Also, putting in the maximum amount in your 401k is best. The years sneak up and looking at retirement becomes a reality. For peace of mind, start now.

Make a realistic budget and stick to it. Don't forget to include things like gifts, clothing, car repairs, medical co-pays, prescriptions, home maintenance and repairs, tolls, groceries, and gas. If you lump all of these into one category, you will tend to overspend and rely on a credit card.

It's all about being organized. We keep a spreadsheet on Excel with all of our bills that we need to pay each month. Every paycheck, we put enough to the side to ensure that by the end of the month we can make sure we pay everything on time. Typically when we have a nice influx, (When there are 3 paychecks a month) we will put most of that into a savings account.

My best money saving tip is to make yourself stop and truly think about a purchase for a full day before buying. Not on necessities but on any random wants. It helps cut out spur of the moment spending and many times if you wait, you’Ll find that you don’T really need something that much. It’S fine to treat yourself occasionally but make sure that it’S something you will truly use. Plus it gives you time to price compare and if you do buy it, you might find it cheaper somewhere else.
