Member727156189633Aug 13 20 - 10:12My Favorite teacher was Mrs. MacDougall!! She is one of the best teachers ever!! She is so patient, caring, and passionate about all of her students. They always say that your teachers are basically your parents because you spend more time with them. Well, Mrs. MacDougall made me feel at home since the first day I stepped into her class in the 5th grade. I had just moved from another country to the us and I did not know any English. In my little young mind from watching Matilda all the time, I thought all American teachers were like the mean teacher in the movie. When I met Mrs. MacDougall the first thing that caught my attention was her height!! She is so tall 6 feet and 3 or 4 inches tall. And I was like oh boy! But that day, despite all of my tantrums about my failures to pronounce English words, she proved me wrong by being so patient with me and caring. She overlooked the color of my skin and taught me everything I should know. I would repeat this word that I made sure to learn over and over again, I can’T do it. But every time I said I couldn’T do it, she said I could. She would persist until I had no choice but to do it!! Because she of her persistence, I graduated high school with high honors. I got a an award for English and languages. And I am on my way to college. Something I never thought I would be able to achieve. And I have because very time I thought to myself that I could not do it, I would think about her words and say to myself, Yes I Can!!

Member727156189633Aug 13 20 - 09:57My favorite teacher will always be Mrs. MacDougall. She has helped so many kids from other countries learn English including me. She has so much patience , love, and care. Before coming to America, I had a predisposed opinion about teachers based on movies I had watched( Matilda). But on the first day of school, not knowing any English, Mrs. MacDougall never lost her patience or her cool when I would throw a tantrum and say I can’T do it!! She always say yes you can!!! And till this day, whenever I get in over my head and think that I am not capable of doing something, I think of her words and I am like yes you can!!! And I did learn English!! Because of her patience and tendency to not give up on me, I graduated high school with high honors, and an award in English. If I said she only impacted me, that would be a lie. She’S impacted almost all of the students from other countries and English as their second languages. I love her so much!!!
dlarroweAug 13 20 - 09:45My favorite teacher has to be a tie between my Math teacher Miss Mills and my Senior English teacher Mrs. Jones. Miss Mills was my Math teacher for each of my 4 years of High School. She taught me everything I needed to know in Math class and made learning Math fun. Mrs Jones was a fantastic teacher with a reputation of being one of the toughest teachers in the school. Everyone in the lower classes feared her and dreaded the thought of being in her class until you got there and found out that she just loved to teach and was strict, but in a loving way and just wanted her students to learn. After graduation for all the years she was living she always remembered who I was ad always spoke when I say her out.
OwloverAug 13 20 - 09:44My high school history professor Mr Post. He inspired his students to think beyond what came easily and sparked in me, what would prove a lifelong passion for history, literature and the written word. He died of cancer very young and is greatly missed.

Member325329600047Aug 13 20 - 08:07I had to really think about this one because I loved school and had lots of really great teachers! But, i'll single out my 10th grade English teacher, Mrs. Brett. I will always remember a note she mailed home to my mom that year which thanked my mom for being such a great teacher in teaching her children how to be great listeners. She praised my ability to really listen to others and wrote that it must have been something that was taught at home. In her letter, she managed to encourage both my mom and myself with her words. A teacher who would go out of their way to do that is to be admired. :)
Sols0508Aug 13 20 - 07:33My favorite teacher was Mrs. Carsen from 3rd grade. She was so full of positivity and love and you could just tell she cared about everyone. I had to change schools for the 4th grade year, and on my first day at my new school, sitting on my desk, was a book of school jokes from Mrs. Carsen with a personal note. How sweet! She always went above and beyond to let her students know that she believed in them and that they were not alone, even when they had to leave everything they knew behind. I think everyone could use a little more Mrs. Carsen in their lives :)
Member1022461356734Aug 13 20 - 07:30My favorite teacher was my 2nd mother, father. Her name is nyamsuren. She taught me very well and was my best mentor. Member827361518032Aug 13 20 - 07:06My favorite teacher was Mr. Butler, 6th grade.
Because 6 th grade is the stepping stone to your teenage years.
He really went out of his way to give that extra help to me when I struggled in math , even though he was just starting out in his teaching career, he was amazing, he made every student feel like they were his favorite.
He impacted me in my life even today.
I still go back to my elementary school ever now and again to see him, after 30 years.

MsTopNotchRNAug 13 20 - 06:15My favorite teacher was Mr. Williams and he was my 5th grade teacher. Mr. Williams is my favorite teacher because he made the most impact over my life even after completing his class. My mom passed away from cancer when I was 13-years-old and I was headed in a downward spiral. Mr. Williams taught me that my life wasn't over and that I needed to succeed more now than ever, being the oldest child of my 3 younger siblings. Mr. Williams also taught me how to be professional, he taught me endurance, perseverance, and how to remain focused, motivated, and determined when setting and completing both short-term and long-term goals. If it wasn't for Mr. Williams being my 5th grade teacher and now my mentor, I don't know where I would be in life, especially without having my mom. Thanks Mr. Williams!!
AndrewJ526Aug 13 20 - 06:11My favorite school teacher was my first grade teacher, Mrs. Foster; mainly because she would provide little candy treats to those students who stayed after school to help tidy up the classroom. :)

wilcatAug 13 20 - 05:51Mrs. Nakamura was my favorite kindergarten teacher because she was strict for our own good. She asked each student whether we had eaten our lunch veggies and when it came my turn, she didn't trust I was telling the truth. She asked who sat next to me during lunch and found out I had lied and promptly disciplined me.
NerolliAug 13 20 - 00:25My best teacher was Tamara Mikhailovna, in elementary school. She always dressed stylishly and beautifully, was slim, had a fashionable haircut and always smelled deliciously of different perfumes! She was strict but kind! So our class was the most obedient)

khalidvegaAug 12 20 - 20:27My favorite teacher was Ms. Parixta. She cares too much about us more than she does for herself. She helped us discover the passion for science/Math and that's because she likes what she does and seems to know what she teaches.

carebear422001Aug 12 20 - 20:01My favorite teacher was my 10th grade typing teacher named Mrs. Thompson and the reason that she was my favorite is because she actually saved my life. I was ready to quit school in the 10 grade but she talked me into staying in school for a half of a day and she also helped me find a job. Because of her I excelled in school and went on to get my diploma and graduate. I am so Thankful that she was a caring and compassionate teacher that really showed me that I could succeed in life. If it was not for her I would have never graduated.

I knew how it affected our family but never knew what it was.
luckywindAug 12 20 - 17:07My first teacher Mrs. Ada Isakova was and still is my favorite teacher. Thanks to her I love to read. She taught me to be patient, to be able to sit still and focus, to communicate openly, to be able to listen to people.
She even taught us cross-stitching, a complicated craft requiring perseverance, patience, a fine motor control and most importantly the desire to create something beautiful. Couple times we visited her when she was sick and met her family. Her inner beauty came from her mother. And her son took the best from the family as well. I never forget them and impact they made on me.

txjen77Aug 12 20 - 16:13I have several favorite teachers. But, the one that always stands out is the Coach / History teacher in Junior High. I don't remember his name but I can remember his face, the classmates in his class and where I sat. This was during the first Gulf War in the 90's and being junior high kids, we knew everything and during a discussion of current events, a classmate said "Why don't we just kill him (Saddam Hussein)?" The teacher stood silent for just a moment to get everyone's attention, said "You can kill a man but not an idea," and then continued on with the lesson. That phrase has stuck with me for 30 years and influences my opinion on many current events.

CarynrphAug 12 20 - 10:35Ms Sopko- she was my 1st grade teacher and had a true love for what she did. She had her health issues - Lupus but taught us to perservere .. And never give up.. When I was young I got mad at my parents and told them I was running away to Ms Sopko's house... Lol... Now at 45 years old I still remember and love the year I had with her and the impression she made on me

alicemrsAug 12 20 - 09:45My favorite teacher was a professor in college, Dr. Diane Krider. I was so impressed by her wittiness, intellilect, enthusiasm about teaching and her creativity in her lessons that she made me want to learn more. I enjoyed her teaching so much that I changed my major and tried to take all of her classes. I learned so much from her and eventually got recruited to further my education by her. I owe a great deal of my career to her and how I have grown as a student and a person because of her.
sonicfanrsAug 12 20 - 09:39Ms Pinter cuz she was nice
Member1211899416036Aug 12 20 - 09:35It was my fourth grade teacher who was open for any question during class, except for the early morning session in arithmetic. With that out of the way, he encouraged and answered questions, not staying within the curriculum, just following the curiosity and knowledge of the students. I knew what I missed, when in fifth grade with a new teacher, I was admonished for asking questions outside of the curriculum.
Member526104268744Aug 12 20 - 09:23Mrs. Norgrady in middle school. She was my Law class teacher and it was one of the first times I had such a strong bond with a teacher, we talked about law & Order before class and she listened to me and noticed I was a bit self conscious and she always tried to lift me up, see me and make me feel counted and included. I felt alot of academic independence from her. She even came to one of my basketball games once and I was overfill with such pride and joy she was watching me play. Makes me tear up when I think about it cause I dont think I ever truly thanked her. Thank you Mrs. Nogrady Brown middle school ma

Member325219495220Aug 12 20 - 06:09My favorite teacher was my High school Naval Science Instructor. If any of you have older siblings, you might of experienced something similar to what I did when I first started High School in 9th grade. Exactly two years after my oldest sister went to that school, got in trouble every single day, failed every class she had, got kicked out of nearly every class, was into the drinking and doing drugs life style, ended up pregnant at 15 years old, and dropped out of school before the end of first semester. When I started school there (being the complete opposite of my older sister) I was the quiet, shy, and straight a student however, most of the teacher only knew me as the younger sibling whom was doomed to follow the same path. My Naval Science Instructor's name was Captain Myers and he saw me for who I was as an individual! He gave me a chance at life and school. When all the other teachers and staff were telling me to give up and drop out instead of wasting their time, Captain Myers continued to tell me to hold my head high, be proud of who I am, and gave me encouragement every single day. I had Captain Myers as my Naval Science Instructor for all four years of High School. There were times that I felt overwhelmed like I could not go on and even if I didn't say anything about how I felt Captain Myers seemed to know and always had the right thing to say to keep me motivated. If I knew how to get ahold of him today I would like to personally thank him for never giving up on me. Because of him, I graduated High School, went on to get a Bachelor's degree in business management, I have some amazing children that I give the same advice to that Captain Myers always have me, and he made me the kind, hard working, and loving person I am today!!
PreciousinhiseyesAug 12 20 - 06:01When I was in the 5th grade my family moved to a new country - a country that I didn't know the language or the culture. We moved because my grandfather was ill and needed care.
My parents enrolled me in school and because of the language barrier I went from 5th grade to 4th grade and the following day I was in 3rd grade.
This is were Ms. Luz comes in, she knew my struggle and she took me under her wing and taught me Spanish. She was young and beautiful and full of compassion for me. She was patient and willing to stay after school to teach me how to read and write and eventually speak it. I owe much to many teachers and I admire anyone in the Education field, but my heart goes out to Ms. Luz for teaching more than Spanish. She taught me patience, compassion and servant-hood.
spar97Aug 12 20 - 05:54Mrs. Volk was my favorite - she had the patience of a saint with us first graders. One could ask her the same question over and over and she'd answer as if it were the very first time she was asked.

nikitakor7Aug 11 20 - 23:21My favorite teacher was my school math teacher named Seetalakshmi.
I come from a country named India. Primary education isn't that great here. Mathematics was a subject I was really scared of. I would rather prefer art and history over maths .
My teacher somehow figured it out that I could be good at maths. Mathematics theorems now became history stories. Soon I was able to understand how theorems were actually built. I started understanding mathematics.
Primary teachers are the foundation blocks of an education system. They can make or break a subject. With my teachers effort here i'm in USA with an engineering degree and always looking forward to doing more of math ♥️

DallusAug 11 20 - 23:08Mrs;Murray our grade 7-8 math teacher. She knew her kids well. Which ones would need a little more one on one or more visual explanation. Those of us who asked for more time on the computers, she would make sure that we would get it, even though we were playing F14 flight simulator lol. She was always good mooded and happy to get us more pizza Fridays when the class would all do well on tests and quizes. Out of all the teachers I had, she is the only one I remember by name and still sticks out in my min when I reminisce about my younger years. Rest in piece Mrs.Murray.

She knew her students in the sense that, which ones would need a little more explain and/Or visual aid to help them understand how the formulas worked or exactly what was expected in the tests or exams. She very rarely came in with a frown, always happy to be with her other kids. But she was really cool too, would bend the rules for her students. Krish_Goku_77Aug 11 20 - 22:17There are many teachers coming to my mind while thinking choosing a favorite one among them. I would like to chose Mr. Elias David as my favorite among the category of favorite teachers. He was my history teacher in my High school. Before I had him in our class, I had no keen interest in historical events such as dates and wars. My mindset changed after attending his class. He tells about events in a more funny way with witty examples. We never failed to laugh in his class. His quality of using simple words was also his plus. This man apart from academics was a good friend for students like us. He has helped many students by supporting financially and morally. He was a good mentor too. Whenever, we commit any mistakes he would make us understand where we went wrong and tell us how to avoid such mistakes in future. Because of these reasons, I find him as a good fit for my favorite teacher.

Emilydeveau1 Aug 11 20 - 21:48My favorite teacher was Mr.Barrasso who was an English teacher. He would start each class with one of these crazy prompts and then we would al just write for 10 minutes straight. Afterwards the class took turns sharing their story and how they interpreted the question. On some days after serious stuff was happening in society, he would put a controversial prompt on the board and we would write about how we viewed the topic. He would try to help us understand what was happening around us and show us reality but then teach us how to grow from it or how we could like help the situation. Overall he was such a great teacher who was committed to us and was even willing to take a day to not teach us English but rather teach us how to cope with society.

I participated in so many things through the ffa, not to mention I brought my grades up. Mr. Salyer encouraged me to move forward and do more things and with that I won several awards through the ffa. I am 51 and to this day I am thankful for what I accomplished and learned through his guidance.

And also she was boon for students who couldn't pay the private tutions, she will help them to learn and be successful. You can approach her with questions and queries any time even if its late night. She passed away few years back. Truthfully haven't seen that kind of teacher with that dedication. I personally got really scared of public speaking because of other students bullying me for being over weight. When I mentioned to her I want to overcome my fear of public speaking, she helped me get over it and I went on to winning an award in the declamation competition against 12 students in my grade.

Being the first child to go to college is tough and there is a lot to learn through the process but Mr.Torres was very patient and supportive. Thanks to his help I was able to receive acceptance letters to all four universities that I applied for.
Member124323228709Aug 11 20 - 19:42My favorite teacher in high school was my radio media teacher Mr.Simmons because of his humor, kindness, and faith in an 8th grader touring high schools that didn't even want to tour his classroom as a possible major or minor. While touring his class I got the chance to read the news on St. Louis public school radio which is usually meant for a few juniors and the seniors in that class. The usual person that was supposed to do it never showed so he gave me that opportunity if I wanted to read the news. It was the scariest and most adrenaline filed experience that made me choose the that school and his class as my major. He encouraged me to pursue this subject and continued to do so the entire time I attended. He made learning fun and I thank him for those special memories.
Member425658068519Aug 11 20 - 19:37The ones who respected my opinions, instead of teaching as though the teacher was always right.

ew1111Aug 11 20 - 19:26In 1954, Miss White our 5th grade homeroom teacher wheeled in the schools first tv set (it was called a visual aid) to watch the McCarty hearings. First time any of her students had ever felt a part of live history. She was an amazing teacher, and all of her students that June were invited and attended Miss White's wedding where she became mrs. Bradley.

TeekaeAug 11 20 - 18:57My. Favorite teacher would be my English 101 professor, Brian Till. It was when I went back to school at age 39, and wasn't sure if that I could this time actually make going to college work or if I would fail again. Because of his encouragement, I found out that I could successfully get a college education and discovered a new addiction, the want and need for new knowledge. Along with finding out I was not bad at writing as I feared and now have changed my degree to creative writing! My late father is beaming ear to ear shining down on me from heaven, as he himself was a author. I will always appreciate and credit Brian Till for his dedication and encouragement, I would never thought I would want to write for a living.

I loved that his classroom was one for conversing about what we were learning, rather than just him asking questions. He took the time to get to know his students, and really tried to teach a love of good stories, whether they were found in new or classic literature.

suzeAug 11 20 - 18:29Mrs. McCartney was my favorite teacher. She was a long term substitute teacher one year. Her enthusiasm, particularly for science, was contagious. Every day we would come to class to find complex science drawings with colored chalk. I can still envision the earth She drew with all its layers. We covered so many topics - blood types, dna/Rna, red and white corpuscles, etc. She was caring, interesting, and very involved in imparting knowledge. She was the standard by which I judged every other teacher. I am so thankful I had Mrs. McCartney. I just wish I had known enough then to thank her!

Hayashi151Aug 11 20 - 18:25My two favorite teachers. Mr. Life Lessons and Ms. Mother Nature. They have been with me since birth and will continue to be with me until my death. They also show no mercy and they dont care how angry I get or how much I cry. Most jurisdictions would deem such treatment illegal. But they operate above the law. In the beginning, I hated them. I hated their ways. I disagreed with everything they had to say. Unfortunately, it took old age for me to realize how right and how perfect they both were. They were never wrong and always looked out for my best interest. Now, every chance I get, I teach the new generation of graduates the lessons I have ignored.
pnaceAug 11 20 - 18:24My favorite teacher, Mr Shumway, taught Accelerated English and Latin 1 when I was a high school freshman. When a talented teacher is matched up with highly motivated students, great things happen. To him elitist was not a bad word. He was a teacher who reached for the highest peaks, instead of catering to the lowest common denominator. A student lucky enough to have such a teacher must treasure him when he is allowed to do what he does best.

tylerleeanthonyAug 11 20 - 16:32My favorite teacher was Dr. Keller. While it was biased because he was also teaching my favorite subject (Environmental Science), he was also the teacher that helped me realize that teachers are people too. It helped me further develop my worldview that no one is perfect. Rather that we're all just out here trying our best to make the world a better place, whether its for themselves, their family, their community, or their planet. Thank you, Dr. Keller!

Member727097117559Aug 11 20 - 16:19As I look back on my school days, I realize I was fortunate enough to have some teachers who had a great impact on my life. Two of my favorite teachers were Mrs. Nelson and Mrs. Thorn my 3rd and 4th grade teachers. What surprised me was that they actually saw in me something I had not discovered in myself my potential. They set high expectations for me and challenged me to continue to do better. In many ways they ignited a passion to learn that must have been locked away in the recesses of my mind, buried amid the doubts and insecurities of youth. I was shy and they both brought me out of my shell.
During our brief but memorable meetings during recess, she leveled with me. For the first time in my life, a teacher told me that I was wasting my God given abilities and that being shy was okay ,but I need to speak more and express my self they were about to let me get by with anything less than my best effort and performance.
Member66702159918Aug 11 20 - 16:19My 5th grade teacher. She was strict! I cried the first day. But she truly believed we could learn if taught in a way that worked for us. Did lots of hands on, visuals, Demonstration, singing, drawing. And learn we did! If she saw we weren't doing well overall, she found a new method to reach us.

Member128143303218Aug 11 20 - 16:00My favorite teacher when I was in grade school was Mrs. Sar because I was a hyperactive kid before adhd was a thing. It created some problems for me with some of my teachers, who could be pretty mean about my having trouble staying focused. Mrs. Sar, however, treated me like I was the smartest, nicest, most favorite kid in her class. When the world is bullying you for things you can't control, the kindness of an advocate makes all the difference. I'm a teacher now myself, and it's because of people like her. My own laptop has died and I need a new one!

Member325232655029Aug 10 20 - 12:10I've had plenty of teachers, considering I am now going into junior year, but my favorite would definitely be Mrs. Wooten. I first met Mrs. Wooten in seventh grade as my math teacher. Math was my favorite subject since sixth grade and it continues to be my favorite. I didn't really pay attention to Mrs. Wooten in seventh grade, she didn't stand out at the time. After that, I didn't see her again until freshman year, she was my math teacher for the first two years of high school. Mrs. Wooten is a great teacher and i've passed her classes with an average of 96% But that's not why she's my favorite. Mrs. Wooten was the only person in my life who noticed when something changed about me when I was feeling down or upset over something. She was the only person to come and talk to me about whatever it was. When I first fell into depression I felt so lonely and like I couldn't talk to anyone about it but Mrs. Wooten noticed and she gave me a hug. I'm not depressed anymore but I still look back at that moment sometimes because all I really needed was a hug at the time. At that moment I knew someone cared for me.

kolbamberleeAug 10 20 - 09:35My favorite school teacher was my high school psychology teacher, Mr. Nolan. He always kept your attention and made learning about the brain really interesting. He would do things like take his shoes and socks off and teach barefoot, take his classroom phone apart, and yell things out the window when he was teaching.
amcranwellAug 10 20 - 09:06I have had some really great teachers. One that really sticks out to me was when I was in elementary school. My second grade teacher Mrs. Eisner was always so caring to all of her students. She was patient and took time with all her students. Later when I went into high school, I was beginning my own journey of becoming a teacher, and was able to go back in her class and teach and learn alongside her. Her patience and kindness always stood out to me and I bring that into my current classroom. So I enjoyed being in her class then, and I still use what I learned from her now in my own life.
barl5123Aug 10 20 - 08:25My favorite teacher was Mrs. Hale that tought English. She encouraged me to write for the school newspaper and that has carryover into my daily and work life by always trying to dig deeper and find the real reason things happen. Try to ask questions that will get you an indepth answer instead of just yes or no.
Shannon_SmithAug 10 20 - 08:24My favorite teacher was my science teacher, Mr. Miller in 7th grade. We disected many different critters! I remember that you had to draw the animals and someone would win the contest based on how well you drew them! Each time, he would take the student and their friend out to eat-i got picked for the crab drawing! So we got to eat crab legs! So much fun!!

MDS425Aug 10 20 - 05:19My favorite school teacher was my 3rd grade teacher Mrs. Smith. I liked her because we had the same last name and she would always call me daughter, she was sweet, kind and she baked cookies for the class every Friday. She would give us treats and make quizzes and tests into competitions so we would all study hard so we could get the treats at the end of the tests.
